Seronera Wildlife Lodge
Serengeti, Tanzania
About Seronera Wildlife Lodge
Seronera Wildlife Lodge is one of the original Serengeti lodges, built dramatically into and around a massive granite kopje in the Seronera Valley — the wildlife-rich heart of the Serengeti ecosystem. For budget and mid-range travellers, it represents the most affordable way to stay inside the national park rather than at camps outside the gates. The lodge's elevated position on the kopje provides natural viewing platforms where guests can scan the surrounding plains for lions, leopards, and cheetahs without leaving the property. The rooms are straightforward and functional rather than luxurious, but they are clean, comfortable, and deliver what matters most — you are in the Serengeti. The central location means game drives in any direction are productive year-round, whether you are tracking the Great Migration herds or searching for leopards in the riverside acacia woodlands for which the Seronera Valley is famous. The lodge's waterhole attracts a steady parade of wildlife throughout the day, making the terrace restaurant one of the best value dining seats in all of Africa.

Packed lunches are available for full-day game drives. The bar serves local and imported drinks at reasonable prices.
Activities
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives with lodge-based guides or your own safari operator, full-day drives to the Moru Kopjes and Retima Hippo Pool, and optional hot air balloon safaris over the Serengeti plains (booked separately). The lodge's kopje itself is a mini hiking experience with natural rock viewing platforms.
Best Time to Visit
The central Serengeti offers excellent year-round game viewing. The Great Migration passes through the Seronera area roughly from December to May and again briefly in October-November. The dry months of June to October concentrate predators around the Seronera River, making it the best time for leopard and lion sightings.
Wildlife Nearby
The Seronera Valley is one of the most wildlife-dense areas on Earth. Resident species include lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, and hyenas. The Seronera River corridor is renowned as the best leopard viewing territory in East Africa. During migration months, millions of wildebeest and zebra pass through the surrounding plains.
