The World's Largest Unbroken Caldera

About Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most wildlife-dense spots on Earth. The crater floor covers just 260 square kilometers but hosts all of the Big Five. A day trip from the crater rim is one of the most affordable ways to see incredible wildlife in Tanzania.

Best time to visit: Year-round, but June to October is driest. January to March for flamingos.
